the work here shows my early realism with tight pool paintings in watercolour chalk to my more recent pleinair works , . ., i try for essence and suggestion of place , rather than illustrating it . my paintings are an attempt at rendering , boiling down , reducing the landscape to its basic ethereal parts as i see them .......... david e. hall
